Generative Design Partnership is a collaborative architecture practice dedicated to crafting distinctive modern homes and high-end, developer-led projects. Since our founding in 2005, we have grown steadily, with each project representing its own story, process and timeline. Our work is driven by genuine passion, a commitment to personal service, and a rigorous approach to project delivery. We are proud of the long-lasting, positive relationships we form with our clients.
Our studio operates with a lean and highly skilled team, bringing together a broad mix of experience across different disciplines allowing to curate the right combination of skills for every brief. This creates continuity, trust and a dependable project journey from first conversation to completion.
Based at a landmark junction in Barnet, North London, our non-hierarchical open-plan studio provides a collaborative environment we truly value. It is a place where ideas flow naturally, and the culture of the practice thrives.
Daily shared lunches and our regular “Chai pe charcha” sessions bring the team together informally, creating space to exchange thoughts, inspirations and personal passions. These conversations strengthen our design thinking, deepen our collective knowledge and keep us engaged, curious and creatively energized. People and their environments are central to our design ethos, and we strive to embody those principles within our own studio culture.

We maintain an exceptional planning approval record and work collaboratively with local authorities to develop proposals that contribute positively to their context. Our Technical Design documentation is thorough and precise, enabling decisions to be made early and preventing unnecessary stress during construction. We guide you through each stage of the process, ensuring clarity, confidence and transparency.

While design is the most visible part of what we do, the role of an architect extends far deeper. Sustainability
We believe every designer has a responsibility to consider a project’s environmental impact throughout its entire life. For us, sustainability is integral, not an add-on, and is embedded in every stage from concept to construction and operation. Our approach starts with passive strategies—orientation, daylighting, ventilation, material choices, and fabric efficiency—before exploring renewable technologies, ensuring long-term environmental performance. Sustainability goals are discussed early in the briefing stage and seamlessly integrated into each design. With the support of our in-house sustainability architect and urbanist, we develop tailored strategies that create homes and places that are environmentally conscious, future-ready, and responsive to the needs of their inhabitants.
Our Process
1. Feasibility Study & Concept Design
For residential development projects, following a site visit or virtual assessment—and after gaining an understanding of the context, current conditions, and relevant recent planning applications—we can recommend feasible development options that will enhance the quality of living on the site
Comprehensive Feasibility Assessment:
For complex projects, we often recommend a comprehensive feasibility assessment before submitting a pre-application or full planning application. This evaluates planning constraints, development potential, and design opportunities, helping you make informed decisions, maximize site potential, ensure sustainability, and minimize risk. Most clients use this service before purchasing a property or land, allowing us to appraise the site thoroughly and plan effectively from the outset.
Conceptual Design + Pre-Application:
We begin the design process by developing an initial configuration, exploring up to three distinct design options. Each option offers a different approach to arranging the internal and external spaces while remaining fully aligned with Planning Guidelines. These proposals are presented as schematic layouts and sketches, allowing you to clearly visualise the spatial opportunities and evaluate which strategy best suits the site and your objectives.
This stage represents the conceptual design phase, where creative ideas are shaped into a coherent planning strategy. Your brief is refined into a viable development proposal, ensuring it responds to both your aspirations and the planning context. For more complex sites, we may also seek pre-application advice from the local authority to streamline the approval process and reduce potential risks.
Drawing on our experience and a proven planning methodology, we work collaboratively with planning officers to justify, develop, and strengthen your proposal. Early feedback enables us to refine the design before submitting the formal planning application, improving clarity, minimising challenges, and significantly increasing the likelihood of a positive outcome.
